What's Up With Me?

Well folks, I passed my Bama Bully Rescue (BBR) evaluation and will hopefully soon be an official BBR pup! Wow, I am special after all.

Also, I visited the veterinarian yesterday and she said I was a wonderful patient, one of the best. She said that all her deaf patients have always been so calm and pleasing. Overall I have good health except I still had evidence of ugly things like Hookworms and Whipworms. So, I was retreated again (the Animal Shelter had already done so also). Apparently those little uglies can be tough to get rid of. But I should soon be free from them and on the road to even better health. Getting rid of them should help my weight also. I came out of the shelter at 31 lbs. and remain the same despite my foster parents feeding me well. They think I could easily put on 5-10 lbs more at least and be at or approaching my ideal weight.

The veterinarian also estimated my age at between 2-3 years. So I am young, yet mature past that puppy crazy/destructive phase.

So stay tuned friends as I progress. Thanks.

Snuggling with Dad

I ain't too particular on my sleeping position other than I sure want to be close to my people.
Go ahead, enjoy my cuteness.

 Sunshine, oh yea.

That's my other new buddy Sparky peeking over my shoulder.

My New Friend

Well everyone, here's some new pictures. I am making friends at my new foster home, even with Stormy Sky who is very particular about other dogs. I am calm and don't jump all over her so we do get along fine so far. I am very focused on people and not other dogs so that makes me tolerable to Stormy. Usually I shadow my humans everywhere but this was one instance where I settled with Stormy for a little while.

And here's a new surprise for you, especially considering my wonderful pop-up ears. I am deaf. The shelter folks speculated that I might be and my fosters say Yep! They should know since they recently lost to cancer their 13-year-old deaf white female. So they are good at communicating and working with me although they say it's really not hard.

I am settling in to family life. We are all taking it slow for my transition. I sleep in a crate at night near mom's and pop's bed.

My skin is improving although these photos seem to highlight my bumps more than they appear in person (what's with that?). My hind end sore spots are much better and are healing nicely.

I go for walks and do so well. I basically just walk alongside without pulling in all different directions. I enjoy walking and seeing the neighborhood.

That's all for today. Thanks for watching over me. Please come back as my adventure continues.

A Paradigm Shift, Part II

Hey folks. It's me Katie again. I just wanted to post a few "clean me" pictures before bedtime. The camera that my foster peeps used ain't the greatest for highlighting my most photogenic aspects. In fact it seems to mostly highlight my scrapes and booboos. But, trust me, I look better than these pictures show and to be honest I've been living on the street so you ain't seeing no Madison Avenue pooch here... YET. I'm on the mend though and headed for better days. I'll be a beauty, you just watch!

Remember: If you mouse click my pictures they get larger for better viewing. Nice touch that.

Ah, my own living room bed....

 What are you doing?

 What's over here?

My worst booboo. But it's clean now and should start improving rapidly..

Nice profile shot of me, eh?

 Are you my Mommy?

 I am on the mend.

Why are you flashing me? I don't understand that.

 Spoiled a bit maybe? Nahhhhh....

 Nah, not spoiled.

The good life.

Well, thanks for checking in folks. More will come.

A Paradigm Shift

I'm Katie and today I begin my new adventure.

Here's my story (less, not more).

The Friends of Athens Dog Pound Volunteer Team Facebook page posted this about me:

KATIE is as small little female pit bulldog held in cage # 25 on boarding side. She is very thin, and needs a good home to help put a little meat on her bones. When she came in, she was gray due to the filth that was on this sweet little girl. She must have been traveling for some time. She has had her vaccinations, and ready to be spayed. For further information on any of the available dogs please contact the Athens Limestone County (AL) Animal Shelter.

I had a collar and shelter folks tried to contact my people. But they never could. My collar said my name was Katie and so it is.

Some nice folks came today to bring me home. They are called foster parents whatever that means. But for me it means a hot bath and a warm bed tonight. Woohoo! That sure beats shivering out in the cold.

Here's my original Animal Shelter pictures -
I am ready for somebody's home.

Joy!

Here's my new home pre-bath pictures -

My body needs to fill in more to fit my head properly.

This picture makes me look big-headed, but I'm not. I am right-sized.

 I LOVE to snuggle.

My sore looks so much better after my bath. Stay tuned for clean pictures....

 Ah, rest.

 A whole new adventure begins.

Yes, I am thin. I look forward to some hearty meals.

More (clean) pictures will soon follow. Stayed tuned.

And thanks for all your help to "The Dog Pound".
